Spring Training Game 5 and Curt Schilling

Recap of spring training game 5:

These are players that will make the team or might make the team:

The Cubs lost there first spring training game 4-2 against the San Diego Padres. The Cubs moistly played backups that won't be in the starting lineup on opening day and players that don't play that position. The Cubs record in spring training is 4-1.

Ryan Theriot went 2 for 3 with 2 singles.

Mike Fontenot went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles. Fontenot played third today.

Aaron Miles went 0 for 3.

Reed Johnson went 1 for 3 with a single.

Jake Fox went 1 for 3 with a single.

Paul Bako went 0 for 2 with a strikeout.

So Taguchi went 0 for 1 with a strikeout.

Pitchers:

Ryan Dempster pitch 2 innings and gave up 1 hit, 3 runs, 1 walk and 1 strikeout. The 3 runs Ryan gave up were unearned, they got the runs by errors. He also got the loss.

Mike Stanton pitch 1 inning and gave up nothing.

Kevin Hart pitch 1 inning and struck out 1.

Curt Schilling news:

On Curt Schillings blog, he said that he is still not sure if I'm going to come back but if either the Cubs or Rays need a starting pitcher in the second half, I will be very interested.

Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune heard from a Cubs official that they weren't surprise to here about the news. Sullivan thinks that the Cubs will take a chance on Schilling at the right price.

I will keep you posted on spring training and other news.
