According to multiple sources, RP Matt Capps is not Chicago bound but Washington bound. He is closing in on a 1 year deal with the Nationals to be there 2010 closer. Contract believed to be around 4 million.
But according to "Capps' agent, Paul Kinzer, denied that an agreement has been reached. "We're still going over the offers and talking. It won't be until later tonight. We have not made a decision,'' Kinzer said." I hope that is true and the report is false.
According to unreliable Phil Rogers, the Cubs will not bid against the Nationals.
If Matt Capps signed with the Cubs, he would of been there set-up man going into spring training with Carlos Marmol the closer.
I really hope the Cubs do sign Capps but at this point, it is like a 25% of being Cubbie blue next season.
I will keep you posted as the final decision should be made by midnight tonight.
