According to Paul Sullivan, the Cubs have interested in ex Pirate and closer Matt Capps. He also mention that there is mutual interest on both sides. Matt Capps a couple days ago was non-tender by the Pirates which made him a free agent.
The Cubs have had interest in him over the past years. Capps will most likely just be another arm in the bullpen that can throw. With Marmol the closer, Angel Guzman and John Grabow set-up mans. But he might be flip to the closer job if Marmol struggle like he did this year.
In 2009, Matts Capps had the worse year of his career. With stats of: 4-8 with a 5.80 era in 54.1 innings pitch. Also I forgot to mention he is 26 years old
I would like to Capps in the Cubs 2010 bullpen. Sign him to a 1 year contract for 2-3 million and I will be fine. Or a 2 year contract.
I will keep you posted.
