News from Day 1 of the Winter Meetings...

Bradley was pretty much the main focus of day 1. Bradley remains the #1 thing Jim Hendry want to get done at the Winter Meetings. Bruce Levine reported the Cubs and Royals talk about a Milton Bradley/Gim Meche Trade but the Cubs shot that down right away. The Mets are not interested in Pat Burrell or Milton Bradley, the 3 way then goes out the window if true. The Rays are also loosing interest in Bradley. Besides the Rangers and Rays, 2 more teams contacted the Cubs about Bradley. I still see a Bradley trade in the next couple days.

There was also more that was non Bradley related:

The Cubs are not in on RP Heath Bell. Phil Rogers reported they were. They would of traded Marmol and I am happy with not having Bell.

The Tigers reportedly wanted top prospect SS Starlin Castro and 2 other players in return for CF Curtis Granderson. There is no way I would of done that and the Tigers are crazy.

Ryne Sandberg was promoted to manager of Triple A Iowa Cubs. Former Triple A manager Bobby Dickerson left and went to the Baltimore Orioles. That good, 2011, manager of MLB Cubs.

The Cubs still want Mike Cameron to rome CF next season but have to wait for a Bradley trade. Also the Yankees have interest in Cameron.

More to come.

  1. Gammons on ESPN 2 reports that he feels the Bradley-Burrell trade will work, and it could be announced soon.
