GM Jim Hendry told David Kaplan on the radio that he has contacted recently release Blue Jay BJ Ryan. In a older post, I wrote if the cubs were interested in BJ Ryan and it looks as if they are. Ryan is 33 years old and was good in 2007 but is having trouble this year. The Cubs are supposed offer him the lowest salary for a major league offer after he clears waivers in a couple days.
Geovany Soto was placed on the 15 day DL today with a left strained oblique. The Cubs never made a corresponding move yet, Jake Fox is the backup catcher for right now.
Jason Waddell was activated from the 15 day DL and straight away was optioned back to Triple A Iowa.
I will keep you posted.
