Cubs Interested in Relief pitchers, Pinella, Bradley, NL Central Updates and Much More...

According to the Tribune, the Cubs might be interested in Nationals relief pitcher Joe Beimel. The Nationals were scouting the Cubs minor league teams.

Joe Beimel is 0-5 this season with a 3.38 ERA. Member he is also playing for the Nationals who have the worse defense in baseball.

According to Bruce Levine, the Cubs and Pirates have discussed relief pitcher John Grabow. Levine also mentioned George Sherrill in the same report but did not they if they have had discussions yet. Earlier in the week Ken Rosenthal name the Cubs 1 of 5 interested in George Sherill.

John Grabow is 3-0 with a 3.16 ERA. He would be a nice addition to the Cubs weak bullpen. George Sherrill is 0-1 with a 2.35 ERA. He would be nice to but likely to cost way more.

The Sun-Times reported the Cubs are 1 of about 15 teams kicking the Tires of relief pitcher Chad Qualls. It is really unlikely the Cubs can get him.

Pinella said yesterday that he want a left-handed batter that can drive in runs and hit for power.

Bradley said he is not considering just to become a permanent right handed batter.

The Cubs have signed 3rd round pick, pitcher Austin Kirk. Kirk was 9-1 last year in high school.

Gordon Wittnymer of the Chicago Sun-Times said the Cubs can add pieces at the trade deadline and GM Jim Hendry has to say this: He said the Cubs can make moves "if something comes up," but didn't discuss specific needs.

NL Central:

The Pirates traded 1B Adam LaRoche to the Red Sox for 2 minor leaguers, 1 OF and the other 1 was a P.

Jon Heyman says the Brewers are a threat to acquire ace Roy Halladay of the Blue Jays and he is hearing Manny Parra one of the players going to the Blue Jays.

I will keep you posted.
