Could John Lackey be on the Cubs Radar...

Phil Rodgers of the Chicago Tribune says it will be a nice addition for the Cubs but thinks they have to many long term contracts to bid for him. He also mentions that if Lackey has good starts in the playoffs, he could make good money on the open market.

John Lackey would be a nice addition to the already strong starting rotation. He could be the Cubs 2 starter, with the rotation like this Zambrano, Dempster, Lilly, Dempster and Wells to close it out. I put Lilly in the middle because he is the only lefty.

I say don't over bid for Lackey and just offer him a maxium deal of 3 years and 24 million, 8 million per year. Well I do know that won't be enough but you can try and who knows maybe he wants to play in Chicago and will accept the deal.

I will keep you posted as we await the offseason.
