The Daily Heard reported that the Cubs are reportedly going to keep most of the coaching staff that probably includes Manager Lou Pinella, General Manager Jim Hendry, Bench Coach Alan Trammell, First Base Coach Matt Sinatro, Third Base Coach Mike Quade, and Bullpen Coach Lester Strode.
The 1 coach that might not come back is hitting coach Von Joshua, Joshua was called up from Triple A Cubs to replace Gerald Perry who was fired. Since Joshua was called up to help the slumping Cubs has not really work out.
I see the Cubs looking for a hitting coach to replace Joshua and send him to Triple a again but if they can't find 1 he will be the hitting coach next year. That is what I would do if I was Jim Hendry.
The decision is expected to be announce on Monday of who returns or if some are fired.
Carrie Muskat wrote on her blog today that the Cubs have started "preliminary talks" with lefty reliever John Grabow to come back for the 2010 season. Grabow since coming over in the Pittsburgh trade has look really impressive. Grabow said he loves Chicago and wants to return.
That would be the right step in the right direction by signing Grabow to a 1 or 2 year contract. I love Grabow and needs to be in the sloppy Cubs bullpen.
I will keep you posted.
