Rudy Jaramillo Expected to be Cubs New Hitting Coach Today... Update 1? Update 2?

Update 6:20: The Cubs have officially sign hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo to the contract of 3 years and 2.4 million. Jim Hendry said in a statement:

"The addition of Rudy to our franchise is a strong statement from our new owners, the Ricketts family, and we thank them for allowing us to move quickly to fill this important role with the best in the business."

Update 1:50: Carrie Muskat is reporting via twitter the Cubs officially sign hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo and there will be a news conference at Wrigley Field later.

Rudy Jaramillo and his wife flew to Chicago yesterday for the signing.

Yesterday David Kaplan reported that the Cubs will announce the signing of hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo on Wednesday.

Also Bruce Levine reported the same thing by saying his sources say it is a 3 year deal worth 2.4 million.

By doing the math Jaramillo is pretty much making 800,000 a year.

Bruce Levine also says that Jaramillo is expected to be the second highest paid coach besides managers, behind Dave Duncan who made 850,000 last season and now is a free agent this year.

At least the Cubs got a new hitting coach and now can worry about trading Milton Bradley then working on the team for next year.

I will update as soon as the deal is finalized.
